The action starts off with a bang in this well-crafted novel with the heroine Mikela fleeing for her life, heading towards Wyoming. The pace continues as the plot unfolds, telling the reader just enough to keep them on edge and turning the pages. Marvelous descriptions of the horses--especially that of the mare and her recently birthed colt--and the surrounding countryside making me long to go. An attractive, realistic hero and heroine with a head on her shoulders, rounds off the romance and makes "Wyoming Escape" a satisfying, enjoyable read. Kate Wyland is an excellent writer. The suspense in this novel begins right away and the reader doesn't have to wait very long to get to the interesting parts. For me, the main character was the perfect blend of innocent and needy combined with independent and authoritative. She was smart, sassy and clever enough to avoid many situations that would have gotten lesser characters killed within the first half of the book.
My interest in this book really solidified when she got to the ranch. The feeling of family there and the idea of beginning a new life in a new place was appealing. I liked the way the author kept the element of danger going even without having to constantly mention it. The writing was clear and concise and never strayed far from the original point in the story. I have seen similar plots before, but this one was handled from a fresh angle.
There was a lot of ebb and flow in this book, from intense action sequences to more calm passages and I thought the relationships among the characters had a very natural feel. I never felt like the author was trying to hard to make things work. The feelings they hid from each other made the tension rise and the eventual result was the one that I had been hoping for. There are no graphic sex scenes in this book, but the romance is obvious.
The one thing I would have liked to have seen earlier in the book was a better sense of who the main character was. Her past is touched upon, but barely and although this gave the character some mysterious qualities, I would have liked to have known more about her before the story really got going as this would have helped me identify with her situation sooner.
Overall, I was impressed with this. The author is a talented writer who has her own style and voice. I look forward to seeing what she does in the future of her writing career. If you are looking for an interesting book with the right amount of just about everything, pick this novel up and give it a try.

Mikela Richards is fleeing for her life after finding a dead body in the park while running and not just
that, she found yet another one in her work kitchen along with a dirty cop. Everyone know that she is a
city girl through and through so where better to hide than at a Wyoming Dude Ranch. Now she will have
the time to discover what info is on the memory stick that showed up on the seat of her car and if it is
what the murderer is after.
Shawn Saunders is a marine back home on the Triple H Ranch to heal both physically and emotionally.
And to forget. Forget that last mission in Afghanistan. Forget the fear he could see in the locals' eyes. The
same kind of fear he sees in Mikela's eyes. He can't help from wanting to help her but she keeps pushing
him away and denying that she is afraid. But no matter what, neither can deny or resist the attraction that
is so strong between them.
Review This was a great book that kept me interested from beginning to end. Even though their attraction
is instant and strong, Mikela keeps her secrets and fears to herself. I found myself yelling (in my head of
course, otherwise it freaks my husband out. LOL) for her to just trust Shawn and let him help her. The author
gave us a story that is believable and to be honest, that doesn't always happen. So I recommend this book to
you all and say sit back and enjoy a good read )

The author presented the material very well. There is some violence or sexual content but makes for a good reading to curl up with. I think you will enjoy this. I certainly did. I am reading Forewarning by the same author right now and is also a very good book.
I live in Wyoming and therefore, I was interested in reading this book -- so glad I did! Ms. Wyland captures the heart of living and working in this state, particularly on a dude-style ranch, and weaves those practicalities into a story of mystery with some romance sprinkled in for more an even more captivating story. I wanted to know "why" and "who done it" and the mystery kept me turning the pages. The rich characters and serene setting (once the ranch came into play) added to the delight of this book. I highly recommend it!
